Well check this out……The geniuses behind the www.meetup.com concept have truly created a networking platform that is so unique, it will get even the most unbudgeable couch potato off the couch.

The idea behind meetup is their uniqueness in creating seperate groups for one’s possible infinite amount of interests. When I mean any interest, I mean ANY interest. Underwater basket weaving? There’s a group for that. Portuguese people who like to go out for brunch? There’s a group for that. People from the South that now live in New York City? There’s a group for that. Just log on to www.meetup.com to see if there’s a meetup platform in your city and dive in.

I joined the 5 Boroughs Clothing Swap which piqued my interest the most. As my first event for this group, I was quite impressed by the organization and vibe of the intense clothing swap process.

1. Register and show up. Bring a snack for the snack table and it’s $3.00 to get in. If you don’t, it’s $5.00.

2. Show up with a bag of clothes to trade. It can be anything you have in good condition.

3. Hang your clothes on the racks and sit down to socialize.

4. The bell is rung and you bombard the racks with the rest of the group.

5. Take as much or as little as you would like. Yes, while we were waiting for the bell to ring we were all on the sidelines eyeballing what we were going to grab first. People were respectful and in good spirits with whatever they walked away with.

6. You will get an intense satisfaction witnessing someone else look completely fabulous in your ex-dress that you brought to trade.

I probably brought about 20 pieces to trade and walked away with 7.
