Let me throw this at ya…..suppose you decide that you want to get outta town SUPER BAD for July 4th weekend but your frugal budget can’t really stretch that far. For starters; if you are in the New York City Metro Area; the perfect solution is just a roll of the dice away~yes I am talking about the Academy Bus Lines. From New York City, New York to Atlantic City, New Jersey is only 2 1/2 hours away. The great thing about Academy is:
-you choose the time you want to leave; the buses leave every 30 minutes.
-the buses go to any casino of your choosing.
-you pay $35.00 for a round trip ticket.
-you ride the bus to the casino which is on the boardwalk-steps away from the beach.
-you get $25.00 back upon arrival
Excellent.
The Academy Bus lines have a variety of packages depending on how frequent you ride. This guarantees you a ride to and from. When you depart the bus they tell you the exact time that particular bus will be leaving. If you choose the spend the night then your return ticket is good for 72 hours.
Do your research now- as different casinos give different amounts back upon your arrival. For example, some casinos give your $20.00 back in a “casino card”, meaning you either have to play it in the machine or go cash it in at the cashier. Make sure you find out which casinos give cash back at your arrival.
So you’re not really feelin’ last year’s bathing suit? (In my case- my 5 year old bathing suit.) Well guess what? The best sales of the year start July 5th.
I am sure you are all aware that this is one of the most important days of the year in the Retail Fashion world. What’s so special about the day after America’s Bday? The answer: The first day of Fall.
In the world of fashion on July 5th summer is dead, done, gone, kicked the bucket, soooo last season and cramping the floor space and merchandising “chi” of anyone who works in retail fashion.
You will find amazing deals on bathing suits and everything “summer” in the stores at this time. Now of course the longer you wait until the real end of summer, the sales get better and better towards the beginning and middle of August.
Don’t be afraid to shop off season! This is where most of your best deals can be found!
Shopping in July and August for Fall only means one thing: FULL PRICE. Be strong and resist the temptation of the new trends and colors. If you feel yourself being hypnotized by the new dress in the window, limit your full priced items to 1 or two things. Get the rest of your items on sale. If you gotta have it; don’t let me stop you. Be aware that the full priced items you may purchase now might translate into better shopping opportunities later for the same or similar items.
My expert fashion advice: If you have any doubts; don’t do it. And don’t ask everyone in the store for their opinion to make yourself feel better about over spending. Wait if you can; you might be pleasantly surprised later and realize that you can “live without it.”
